Russell Nature Walks is only 2.5 km south of the centre of Russell at 6080 Russell - Whakapara Road.

Transport: If you require transport from Russell Wharf or your accommodation, you can book this at the same time as you book your walk. It costs $10 per person for the return journey (i.e. both ways) with Russell Mini Tours or Kororareka Coastal Tours. If you require transport from elsewhere (e.g. Tapeka, Okiato), please contact us.
Note: Transport is included in the "Ecology Plus" Walk and does not need to be booked separately.
Driving from Russell: Head south out of Russell along Hope Avenue. As you leave town you will descend a large hill. Russell Nature Walks is 300m past the bottom of the hill, on your left. Look for the sign! If you reach Te Akau Drive you have gone 300m too far.
From Paihia: You can take the passenger ferry from Paihia to Russell - it leaves every 20minutes in summer and every 30 minutes in winter. If you require transport from Russell Wharf to Russell Nature Walks, you can book this when you book your walk. If you have your own vehicle you can drive to Opua and take the car ferry to Okiato (the ferry leaves every 10-15 minutes) and then drive 7km to Russell Nature Walks
Driving from the car ferry (Okiato): Follow the signs towards Russell. 7km from the ferry you will see Te Akau Drive on your right. Russell Nature Walks is a further 300m on your right. Look for the sign! If you reach Uruti Road you have travelled 150m too far.
Walking from Russell: The Bay of Islands Coastal Walkway passes our entrance. From the Russell wharf, follow the Walkway to Matauwhi Bay and up Florance Avenue. Descend the hill on the walkway (which is safer than walking on the road) and cross the wetland boardwalk to Uruti Road. Turn right on to Uruti Road then left to re-join the main road from Russell. We are c.150m further on your left. Look for the sign!
